All You Know About The 2023 Audi A6 e-Tron: Complete Preview

As Audi continues to extend its EV portfolio, the next car to join the already buzzing Audi e-Tron sub-brand will be the Audi A6 e-Tron. This new addition to the lineup is a sleek sedan with smashing looks, as you might expect from an Audi and a long list of cutting-edge tech amenities.

The A6 e-Tron will be joining the likes of the Q4 e-Tron SUV and the e-Tron GT sports sedan in the Audi e-Tron lineup. Audi says that this new entry will get up to 400 miles per charge drive range. Powering the all-new A6 e-Tron will be two electric motors, one at the front, the other at the rear axle, and an all-wheel drive system.

While it takes a lot of cues from the gas-powered A6 sedan, unlike the regular A6, the A6 e-Tron comes with a slanted roofline like the A7. Although the A6 e-Tron is still much of a concept car, Audi says it is very close to the production cars that will look just like it.

If this Audi is indeed a representation of what the future all-electric sedans from Audi will look like, then we already have a better alternative to electric shoppers in Miami who wants to lease something different from the already common Tesla Model S.

The A6 e-Tron Concept

Unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show last year, whereas the first efforts from the German automaker are with the E-Tron SUV and E-Tron GT fastback sedan, the Audi A6 e-Tron concept tells the story of the next line of Audi electric sedans.

Working with Porsche, Audi developed the scalable Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which will form the structure of the next line of Audi EVs. The sleek A6 e-Tron is the first Audi EV built on this platform. Audi says that it has a DC fast-charging capability to charge its battery from 5 to 80% in just 25 minutes.

The stylish A6 e-Tron showcases the new Audi design language. From the front, it dumps the traditional dark grille area and body-color front bumper treatment for a more stylish and sleeker exterior design. While it’s an electrified version of the regular A6, its fastback roofline and slipperier aerodynamics make it look more like an A7. Audi claims that 95% of the concept will form part of the production car.

What To Expect

Audi hasn’t released much information on the production version of the A6 e-Tron yet, but we expect it to carry over about 90 to 95% of its concept traits.

Cars on the PPE platform come with single-motor rear-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrains and have an 800-volt charging capability. Also, the dual electric motors in the PPE vehicles combine to produce 469 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque and 400 miles of range on a full charge.

We also expect the A6 e-Tron production version to debut later this year and probably be available for leasing next year. We’ll keep you updated when we find out more details about this upcoming Audi.
