A Warm Welcome To The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge: Detailed Review

After marketing its first-ever fully electric car, the XC 40 Recharge, last year, which was more of an all-electric version of the gasoline-powered XC40, Volvo looked to expand its EV lineup by launching a more stylish version of the XC 40 Recharged, which it calls the C40 Recharge.

The Volvo C40 recharge, besides its chopped roof, is nearly the same as the XC40 Recharge. Under the hood, it still sports the same all-electric powertrain that includes a 78-kWh battery pack and a standard all-wheel drive system that delivers up to 225 miles range on a single charge. Inside, it boasts a decent interior with Google’s new in-car operating system.

If you want to lease the impressive XC40 Recharge but want something more stylish, the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge with its coupe-like styling will give you that. However, you should beware that you’d be sacrificing more passenger and cargo space for that.

Powertrain & Performance

All 2022 C40 Recharge models have two electric motors and a standard all-wheel drive. This all-electric powertrain delivers 402-horsepower and 487-lb-ft of torque. This same electric powertrain is standard in the XC40 Recharge as well.

Volvo claims that this electric drivetrain pushes the C40 Recharge to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the XC40 Recharge. Whether this is actually the case or not, the 2022 C40 is surprisingly a fast electric compact SUV. It also delivers a decent blend of composed handling and smooth ride, but it’s far from offering an enjoyable ride quality.

Fuel Economy

EPA has not released the fuel economy estimates of the new Volvo C40 Recharge, but we won’t be surprised to find it at 85 MPGe city and 72 MPGe highway of the XC40 Recharge.

Range & Charging

Like the XC40, the C40 uses a 78-kWh battery pack or 75-kWh of usable energy storage, which according to Volvo, can deliver 225 miles of driving range per charge, 2 miles more than the XC40.

All C40 Recharge models support the 150-kW DC fast charging, Volvo says can charge the battery from 10 to 80% in about 40 minutes. Home charging is also possible, but that is a lot slower.

Interior, Cargo

Although the interior of the 2022 C40 mirrors that of the XC40, they are still some slight adjustments. While still sporting a thoughtfully designed interior with nice materials, Volvo says that the all-new C40 Recharge will be 100% leather-free—the first Volvo model to achieve that. This same styling will apply in the next Volvo EV models.

The C40’s coupe-like styling means lesser cargo space and less comfortable cabin than the XC40, but drivers and passengers in the front seat will hardly notice that. For infotainment, this Volvo EV comes with a large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that features the latest Google’s Android operating system.

Although Volvo says that the all-new 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge won’t be available at the local dealerships yet, as it is exclusively available through online ordering, you can still lease your next Volvo EV like the XC40 or any electric vehicle in Miami at the most satisfying rate, only at VIP Auto, 620 75TH ST, MIAMI BEACH, FL 33141, https://www.vipleasemiami.com/.
